Technician Resume Example
Technician resumes — whether HVAC, auto, or field service — are read for certification level and first-time-fix rate before anything else. Both belong near the top of the page.
Example experience section
Field Service Technician — Equipment Service Company (2021–Present)
- Completed 8–10 service calls daily with an 85% first-time-fix rate
- Certified in [relevant certification, e.g. EPA 608 / ASE] with 4 years of field experience
- Reduced average repeat-visit rate by 20% through improved diagnostic documentation
Skills recruiters check for
Relevant trade certification, diagnostic and repair tools experience, first-time-fix rate if tracked, and customer-facing communication for field roles.
Common mistakes on a technician resume
Writing "mechanically inclined" instead of naming the specific trade certification or equipment class you're qualified on. Omitting first-time-fix rate or call volume, both of which are the standard performance measure in field service. Leaving out customer-facing experience for roles that involve on-site visits, where communication is evaluated alongside technical skill.
