Production Operator Resume Example

Manufacturing resumes are read for three things fast: which machines you're certified on, your output and quality numbers, and your safety record. Lead with all three.

Example experience section

Production Operator — Automotive Parts Manufacturer (2021–Present)

  • Operated CNC machinery producing 400+ units per shift with a 99.3% quality pass rate
  • Reduced machine downtime by 15% by identifying a recurring calibration issue
  • Maintained zero lost-time safety incidents across 3 years on the production line

Skills recruiters check for

Specific equipment certifications (CNC, forklift, specific machinery), quality control and inspection experience, Lean/Six Sigma familiarity, and shift and output volume history.

Common mistakes on a production operator resume

Naming the machine category ("operated machinery") without the specific equipment or certification a plant actually screens for. Leaving out output and quality-pass numbers, which are the clearest evidence of on-the-job performance in this field. Omitting shift pattern experience (rotating, night, weekend) when the posting specifies it.
