Hairdresser Resume Example

Salon hiring often comes down to two things beyond the interview: your license status and your client retention or rebooking rate, if you have one to cite.

Example experience section

Hairstylist — Full-Service Salon (2021–Present)

  • Maintained a 70% client rebooking rate across a growing personal client book of 150+
  • Specialized in color correction and balayage, generating $1,200+ in average weekly service revenue
  • Trained 2 junior stylists on client consultation technique

Skills recruiters check for

Active cosmetology license, service specialties (color, extensions, texture services), retail/product sales results, and client-book size or portfolio if available.

Common mistakes on a hairdresser resume

Listing general skills ("cutting, coloring, styling") instead of the specialties that actually differentiate you, like color correction or extensions. Omitting rebooking rate or client-book size, which salon owners treat as the clearest evidence of client trust. Leaving out a portfolio link entirely, when most salons expect to see finished work before booking an interview.
